The first international conference of the Romanian Network for Migration Studies (RoMig) 2017
Migration from and towards Romania. Research, Policy and Practice
In the 5th and the 6th of September 2017, the Romanian Network for Migration Studies (RoMig – http://romig.ro/) held its first international conference in Cluj Napoca. The conference, Migration from and towards Romania. Research, Policy and Practice, was co-organized by RoMig in partnership with the College of Political, Administrative and Communication Sciences (FSPAC) and the Romanian Center for Comparative Migration Studies (CSCM) at the Babeş-Bolyai University (UBB), which was also the host of the event, the Research Institute for Quality of Life (ICCV) and the Gh. Zane Institute for Economic and Social Research from the Romanian Academy, and the Romanian Institute for Research on National Minorities (ISPMN). The conference benefitted from the presence of Professor Oded Stark (Universities of Bonn, Tuebingen, and Warsaw, Georgetown University, http://ostark.uni-klu.ac.at/), who shared his current work with the audience, in a Distinguished Lecture on Social Preferences and Economic Behavior.
The annual conference aims to stimulate the research in migration studies, focusing on research on international migration in and from Romania. The event brought together in Cluj over 50 researchers in the field of migration, affiliated in Romania and/or abroad. The discussions were catalysed by 26 presentations and 8 posters.
